If you’re reading my True Crime Tuesday posts, I have to assume it’s because you’re as fascinated with the darker side of human existence as I am.
But lately, I’ve been filtering out a lot of rude, dickbag comments from trolls and people seemingly lacking reading comprehension skills.
So, I’m adding this disclaimer in the hopes it will be a deterrent from anymore dumb shit. Please read this before reading my true crime write-ups.
🔪 Background Info
I try to include background information on the killer(s) profiled because I believe it’s important to get a full picture of who these people are. Specifically, the psychology of who these people are. Often times, that background info includes abuse, traumatic childhoods, etc.
I do NOT include that background information in order to evoke, or because I feel, any kind of sympathy for the killer(s). It is not my intention to cast killers as victims. And am I certainly not saying all people who grow up with trauma, abuse, difficult childhoods etc., are all going to turn into killers. Like, duh.
I shouldn’t even need to say this shit, but inevitably there are always comments accusing me of all of the above. JUST STOP. That’s some fucking obtuse fuckery. The psychology of killers is an entire field of study for a reason – it’s complex, deep shit.
Life is shades of grey. It’s not black and white. Sometimes bad people had bad shit done to them. It’s not an excuse. No one is asking you to feel sorry for anyone. But background information is a piece of the overall puzzle that is important to consider. If you don’t want to consider it, find a different blog.
I sometimes use moments of levity, humour and gifs in my posts because true crime stories are dark, disturbing and heavy. I NEVER use humour towards the victims or the victims’ families. It is almost always done at the killer(s) expense. I’m not interested in whether you believe that’s “appropriate” or not.
It is impossible to please everyone. I don’t care to try. I have zero intention of being anything other than myself. If you don’t like me, that’s life. I’m not losing sleep over it. You are free to go find a true crime blogger who you do like, who writes their posts in way that better suits your sensibilities.
🔪 Trigger Warnings
I will put trigger warnings on posts that contain graphic violence against children or animals because it is what most people are the most sensitive to, including myself. It’s rare that I’ll post a story with child or animal content, but it happens. Everything else, like, you should just be expecting. It’s a true crime post.
Also, please keep in mind that any opinions I express – about juvenile sentences or the death penalty, for instance – are just that: personal opinions. It’s not like I’m writing legally binding legislation here. So, just calm your fucking tits.
If you can’t post a comment without being rude, insulting or aggressive, you can GTFO. Comments that are anything other than civil will be not approved. End of.
With that out of the way, let’s talk true crime! ✌️
