Happy Sunday, booknerds! R’amen to you all.
It’s been a minute since I’ve done a Booknook post. That’s mostly down to my laziness.
When Sunday rolls around we do errands, groceries and prepare for another work week. By the time we’ve done all the adulting stuff, the last thing I want to do is get on the computer and write-up a post.
I just want to chill while I still have time.
Maybe that’s a shit excuse, but it’s the truth. Listen, YOUR GIRL IS LAZY.
This past Thursday I had all the furniture for my new office/guest room delivered. So, yes, your girl is also fancy and has an office now.
Since my oldest stepkid moved out I finally have an extra room in my house with which to create a little extra personal space. I’ll be using it for the regular day-to-day business of running a household (paying bills, paying bills and paying more bills,) but it’s also going to be my space to take pictures for my #bookstagram, write-up some blog posts, and a place to go to read when I want some true peace and quiet.

Happy Sunday, nerdos!
This is Booknook Sunday – my one day to talk about home design as it relates to books and my own life.
I’ve had a long past couple of weekends with some reno projects, so I haven’t been able to post booknook decor as much as I intended to, but the good news is, we finally finished renovating our foyer/front hall closet (it only took six weeks!) and even painted the upstairs hallway. I took a queue from Dita Von Teese and went with a deep purple just like her personal library. My husband hates it but I don’t give a shit…

Happy Zombie Jesus Weekend!
Today is also April Fool’s day which seem totally appropriate to have over Easter…I’m sorry, it’s just too easy a joke to make.
Obviously, I’m not a religious person, unless you count my all-out worship of Meg Gardiner, so instead I’ll be celebrating Spring/Canadian Mud season by starting a home renovation project that’s been on my mind for months and months.
We’ll finally be converting my front hall closet from an annoying semi-functional regular closet into an open mudroom-type thing and I’m pretty excited about it.
A heads up to all you youngins who may be reading this…converting closets are the kinds of things that start to get your rocks off after you turn 30. Prepare yourself accordingly.
I’m not sure how much reading I’ll be able to get done in the middle of all this renovation stuff, but I’ve got these two books in my arsenal:

Happy Sunday, y’all! How were your weekends? Let me tell you about mine…
Saturday I hit up the Book Outlet with my mom in St. Catharines. They were having their annual box sale. What’s a box sale you might ask?! Well!!! It’s where they give a giant box like you’re moving, and you get to fill it with books for $35!
I know, it’s amazing. And I wish I could have taken you all with me. I might do a post about my spoils later.
For now though, I’ve got all these new books (and hundred of others I already had boxed away) and still no real place to put them. Damn housing renovations take so long! I wish everything went as fast as an hour episode of something on HGTV.
So let’s take a few minutes to appreciate the beautiful book nooks people are creating for themselves. Drool and envy and daydream, lovers!

Nothing makes me more aware of my ridiculous seasonal depression like having a couple days of sunny warmer weather.
This week we got two glorious days of sun and +11ºC. The dog was happy, the kids were playing tennis. My feet didn’t feel like icicles because I forgot to wear slippers around my house. Then, with malice and hatred, the weather man burst my sunny bubble – calling for a cold front with a snow storm coming up from Texas. FUCK YOU TEXAS.
To get to work today I had to scrape the snow off of my car first. I don’t like doing physical labour first thing in the morning. I cried and my tears literally turned to ice. Okay…that didn’t happen, but I’m seriously just so over this.
So, with my desperate longing for spring in mind, I thought I’d do a Book Nook Sunday totally dedicated to bright spring colours.
I could sit in these rooms and read and forget about the fact that this winter has lasted seventy-eleven years so far.

Sunday is here again!
I have to say it’s been a hell of a couple of days.
I’ve had the flu since Wednesday night, then had a pretty intense couple’s therapy session – while I was still sick – where my self-care was focused on. I guess it’s important I do things for myself so that I can be happier in a relationship blahblahblah.
Basically I need a creative outlet, something that is just mine that I’m CREATING, that I can put some of my energy into. This blog is so fun, but I’m just reading and writing – there’s a big part of spirit that needs a little bit more.
So, yesterday I hit up my favourite craft store and invested a few dollars in starting up my own #bookstagram to accompany this blog. You can find me by searching @thefuckingtwist!

Obviously, I missed Book Nook Sunday last weekend. Obviously everyone is devastated. Like, quit crying about it. Christ!
Kidding. If only I was that popular and could verbally abuse my readers through the written word and still have them stick around. I’d be like the Donald Trump of book blogging.
The Donald Trump of Book Blogging was my second choice for this website domain, b. t. dubs.

It’s that time…not again…because this is a brand new blog and I’ve never made a post like this yet. But, rest assured that every Sunday from here on out will “be that time again!”
Book Nook Sunday! Whooo!
This is where my book/home envy takes hold of me and I drool over people’s homes. Sounds like fun right? (I watch a lot of HGTV and I think I’m developing a complex.)
Today’s winner is:
Would you read here? *drooling* Ugh, stupid people with amazing taste and things I don’t have.
