Hey nerdos! Happy Sunday!
It’s been a bit since I did a book nook post and I chalk that up entirely to bad forethought and how absolutely lazy/busy I am on Sundays. By that, I mean Sundays are our “prepare for the week” day – groceries, garbage, making lunches, laundry. All the terrible adulting things that no one wants to do. And by the time we’re done I like to sit on my fucking ass.
That’s RIGHT. I SAID IT.
(I really should be scheduling these.)
But, today is a little bit different. My husband is away so I haven’t done any of our responsible things like usual. That means I get to make a new post instead. This will essentially just be me showing off the hard work we did in my new office/guest room which used to be my oldest stepson’s bedroom (he moved out in the spring.)
My last one of these posts I think I said I’d share the finished product with you all once we were done. It’s been put together for a little while now, and I’ve been breaking it in. Getting used to doing things at my own desk instead of in my bed on a laptop board. I feel so adult (I’m not.)
I also have some beautiful book nooks to share with you all that I’ve collected from all over the internets to get your bookworm envy flowing.
But first, the “before”:
It looks so small here, but just wait. We didn’t repaint, only touched up because I picked the colour of my stepson’s bedroom initially and I still really like it. It’s called stardew or something equally lame.
Also, please note the raccoon dog toy in the middle of the floor. Can’t even do some home reno without the little dude trying to join along in his own special way.
Without further ado, here is the “after”:
I don’t know – should I be giving you a virtual tour? Indulge me.
I got mostly everything from Wayfair or Structube. The couch is a sofa bed for guests. The wire racks are from Amazon. I’m a bit of an artist in my free time (which I don’t have much of), so I bought them to display my favourite pieces. My husband always wanted to frame them around the house but that feels too self-aggrandizing or something, this feels like a nice compromise. There’s also a cat nest in the corner for my kitty, Tiny Monster. She’s always looking for places to hide from my dog so she likes it in here.
The table with books is in front of a small closet/alcove that we tore apart – took the doors down, took the closet bar and shelf out. We added in three silver shelves that hold baskets and boxes for all of my art stuff and #bookstagram props. My cow painting and lamp with a giant Edison bulb are probably my two favourites things in the room, actually.
Anyway, that enough about me. On to the real reason you’re here.
Okay, for real I should at least put away laundry now. Also currently watching The Mountain Between Us and there’s a dog involved so my feels are like through the roof (not to mention Idris Elba *drooling*,) so please be gentle with your criticism of my office brag haha.
Until next time, Booknerds…
